Avatars in Gimp + Font?

I tried making something on GIMP.

Firstly, it was really really hard. I know loads of people have attempted this on photoshop, but GIMP does not allow you to create a still background, so I had to merge them one by one.

I know the wartotle could be better positioned, but the animation does take up a bit of space, repositioning it may not be the best idea.

What do you think?

I also have yet to find a font for the avatar. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Marc

Looks good to me! No suggestions so far because, whatever the mistakes/ missing things were, you pointed them out yourself! :)

The positioning is kind of weird, and if you're still searching for the font of the text, then why not show us some examples and maybe we can choose? :)

Other than that, I like everything else! :)

Btw, may I know where you're finding these Pokemon X and Y gifs from? (I tried searching, but to no avail.)

If you scroll down you'll be able to find the index for all of them. If you click on the number next to the name it shows one of their fighting animations.

The thing is, I only have the default gimp fonts, so it'd be nice if I could get some suggestions.

I downloaded all of the XY sprites in a pack, I'll try to find the link. I could upload it to Google Drive (if you have gmail) for you to download if you'd like ;D

It contains the Megas, and stuff

If you scroll all the way down on the link Muncho gave there's a "Download all these sprites/models/gifs in a zip file (186 MiB)." clicking that will download all the gifs and you would just need to unzip it.

Wow, you made that on GIMP? i can't do much on gimp myself D:

The positioning seems fine to me, considering wartortle leaps forward.

Good work :P

Yeah animations on GIMP are crazy because you are really limited in options. If you add (replace) at the end of the layer it replaces the previous layer so try putting your still background at the very start then putting the first frame of the animation and then all the other frames. On all frames of the animation other than the first add (replace) at the end of the layer name. See if that fixes anything.

Nope, the thing is, when I import the gif as layers, it's set to default (combine)
Minimii showed me how to change them all to replace.
But if I put the bg on the first layer/Background layer and use combine, it won't work.
So the only thing is to duplicate it and merge it with individual layers.

I'm saying have a seperate bakcground layer. so for example
all frames have only animation and no other backgrounds transparent NOT white backgrounds

Frame 5 (replace)
Frame 4 (replace)
Frame 3 (replace)
Frame 2 (replace)
Frame 1
Background

this should result in it working fine, but a layer will be taken up to show the background by itself.
