Exciting interviews by our community and rants!
MEMBER INTERVIEW
Today we interview our shiny-collector, Monsieur awesome-at-tradin', Shiny Greninja!
*Holds mic forward*
What's your name, son? Speak fast, I say, speak fast! My name eh? [Get's into thinking pose] I am a man of many names, but you can just call me Danny.
Why is it 'sands' of time? Why not sea? Because, if it was 'Sea' of Time, We'd Drown :D, or maybe that water rushes faster than sand and that we'd all drown eventually, so yeah.
What is your first memory of Pokemon? My first memory was Pokemon The First Movie, that was the thing back in the day. Watched that movie when i was a wee tot, and i thought Mewtwo was BadA** in that movie.
How did you find out about PGN and what brought you here? First we got to start with Pokemon Tower Defense, I was looking up some pokemon games online to play, and there aren't that many xD but i stumbled upon PTD. I played that game, it was fun (getting that shiny geodude, best thing eva') but once i got stuck on Cerulean Gym, I went to YouTube for help, and i so happened to find G-Forces Channel, and he offered for us to join the forum, so i looked around and joined, but wasn't really active till like, a a couple of months after i joined.
So, if my little niece looks under the bed and gets scared, can I assume that it is 'cause of you? (Since your location says "under your bed") You can assume it's me, but what if there's something else down there with me...
What's your favourite game so far? Hmmm, Mario Sunshine and Pokemon Gale of Darkness would have to be my Favorites (Luigi's Mansion, Pokemon X, and Call Of Duty are a close second)
If I were to say that I'm actually a pokemon disguised as a human, and I'm a shiny pokemon at that, what would you do? There are others like me? Yattta!!
Favourite PGN moments? Hmm My Favorite PGN Moment would have to be when i joined the RPG, i got to meet alot of new people and got active on the forums.
What's the one thing you really need to do right now, but are really lazy to do? Finish School Projects -3-, CURSE YOU HOMEWORK
What's your favourite food? Lasagna! or was it Pizza? eh, both are good.
You have a shiny Doduo!? What have you to say about your self to The Gray Fox? I will become powerful with Doduo by my side, not even his Doduo can stop me >:D
Tell us fast! Pokemon or Mario, Rayquaza or Greninja!? D:< UH UH UH, BOTH AND GRENINJA!
Do people get terrorised when they see you because you are from Team Rocket? How do you normally react to such people? People do get terrorised when they see me because i'm snatching the pokemon for Team Rocket, and me being me, I chase them just for the lolz
Lastly, how do you say bye?
Ja Ne
Snowy's Special Reply Snowy: This is bad... I keep meeting pokemon disguised as humans these days.. They're ALL over the forum! Snobro: Don't freak out Snowy, be nice or... Or... He may *mumbles* attack you or smthn... *mumbles* Snowy: uh... At least I don't flinch like you. Snobro: Anyway, it's about Greninja now! Th.. Thk.., d.. Snowy: ugh, let me do it, Snobro. Thank you very much for your interview Shiny Greninja! You're not a Rayquaza right? 'Cause then I might flinch too. Snobro: Snowy... Talk to him pro..per...ly... *flinches, gives mic and runs off crying* AND A TEAM ROCKET TOO AT THAAAT!!! Snowy: Scaredy cat Anyway, those were some superb answers! That was wonderful interviewing, Shiny Greninja. We had a great time! Thank you very much and here's a little gift to show you our appreciation: Hope you like it! Snobro: Really? You even gave him a heart? Snowy: What? I really like Pokemon dressed as people...

Kompetitive Korner
Welcome to the Kompetitive Korner, by Ninja_Trainer where we teach you about competitive Pokemon battling! This time, we'll be covering one of the most popular competitive Pokemon throughout Generation 4 and Generation 5: Scizor! Enjoy the article, and don't forget to vote for next week's spotlight Pokemon!
Pokemon Spotlight - Scizor OverviewScizor was one the most popular Pokemon in the competitive scene for two straight generations, and it's likely that it will stay that way for a long time. It's easy to see why too - Scizor has an exceptional Attack stat, good defenses, and a stellar typing with only a single weakness: Fire. It gets the Technician ability, as well, allowing it to use weaker moves with useful effects, such as Bug Bite to steal an enemy Lum Berry or Bullet Punch for a massively powerful priority attack. Scizor also has access to Swords Dance and Roost, allowing it to set up Attack boosts with ease and use its EVs more defensively should you so desire. Additionally, Generation 6 gave Scizor another new toy: a Mega Evolution with even more power and better defenses, as well as introducing Fairy-types which it can smash with great ease thanks to its tremendously powerful Bullet Punch. TI works well with Sandstorm teams, Rain Dance teams, and weatherless teams, and can even work on stall-oriented teams as an excellent Pursuit trapper. Scizor's biggest weakness is, of course, its quadruple weakness to the Fire-type. Scizor can easily be forced out by Pokemon such as Infernape and Heatran, as it has no super-effective move against them, which is especially detrimental if you're trying to set up boosts. Offensive Water-types are also a problem, as they resist Steel-type attacks and can deal neutral damage with their Water-type moves. Additionally, Scizor's primary attacking move is Bullet Punch, which is resisted by a host of different popular Pokemon, so it can be quite difficult to take them out without a +6 Attack bonus. Lastly, Scizor has low Speed, meaning it will often move last without a priority attack. However, these flaws can easily be covered by teammates, making Scizor one of the most dangerous Pokemon for any team. AbilitiesSwarm - Raises the power of Bug-type moves when HP is below 1/3. Not necessarily bad, as Scizor is bulky enough to be brought down to 1/3 health fairly consistently. However, Bug is a poor attacking type in general except as a coverage move, so this ability tends to be the worse one. Technician - Multiplies the Base Power of all attacking moves with 60 BP or lower by 1.5 times. This ability is one of the best in the game. Bullet Punch and Bug Bite reach a respectable 90 Base Power after the Technician bonus and STAB, and unlike Sheer Force, they keep their bonus effects. You should always be using Technician when you use a Scizor (From Generation 4 onward, at least.) Light Metal - Scizor's Hidden Ability is basically worthless for it. It resists Grass Knot and is neutral to Low Kick, and neither move is common anyway. MovesetsChoice Band-U-turn -Bullet Punch -Pursuit -Superpower/Knock Off/Quick Attack Item: Choice Band Ability: Technician Adamant Nature 248 HP/252 Atk/8 SpD A Choice Band lets Scizor immediately switch in and deal tons of damage, and as such it has been a staple for Scizor since its introduction. When switching in early, U-turn is the best attack you have, allowing you to both scout enemy switches and escape trappers. Once you're sure there are no major threats, you can go to town with Bullet Punch. Pursuit allows Scizor to switch in on and checkmate Ghost- and Psychic-types, such as Starmie, Celebi, and Gengar without a Substitute. The last moveslot can hold one of three moves. Superpower hits hard, especially against enemy Steel-types, and since you're probably switching a lot with a Choice item, the stat drops don't matter at all. Knock Off can be quite helpful against Leftovers stallers, dealing extra damage and ridding them of their healing. If you don't want those, or can't get them (they require a transfer from Black or White 2) then Quick Attack can give Scizor a priority attack for the likes of Volcarona, who is often OHKOed after Stealth Rock damage. 248 HP EVs are used here, as that reduces Stealth Rock damage as much as possible, allowing it to switch one extra time if it comes down to it. Attack is maximized, and the last few points are put into Scizor's weaker Special Defense stat. Swords Dance - Tank Mode-Swords Dance -Roost -Bullet Punch -U-turn/Bug Bite/Pursuit Item: Leftovers/Lum Berry/Shed Shell Ability: Technician Adamant Nature 252 HP/40 Atk/212 SpD While this set lacks immediate power, its bulk gives it ample opportunity to set up a Swords Dance or two and start sweeping. Swords Dance and Roost keep Scizor alive, healthy, and most importantly, boosted. Bullet Punch is the primary attack once again, and it's even more powerful than the Choice Band one after a Swords Dance boost. Bug Bite is the better attacking option, but at the moment it requires a BW2 transfer. U-turn is a perfectly fine alternative; while it removes Swords Dance boosts, it allows Scizor to escape dangerous situations and still does a lot of damage. Pursuit is a third option for the final moveslot. While it doesn't hit Dark-types, it does hit troublesome Ghost-types much harder, and in Generation 6 it is no longer resisted by Steel-types. HP is maxed here on this set, as this particular Scizor shouldn't be switching nearly as often. A few EVs are put into Attack (as well as the Adamant Nature), but the majority are in the Special Defense stat to increase its tankiness. Leftovers is the preferred item here, helping Scizor to avoid certain 2HKOs, but a Lum Berry could be used against pesky status conditions, and Shed Shell allows it to escape from Dugtrio's Reversal or Magnezone's Hidden Power Fire one time. Pursuit Trapping (All credit to Smogon University, who introduced me to this set)-Pursuit -Bullet Punch -U-turn -Roost Item: Life Orb Ability: Technician Adamant Nature 248 HP/112 Atk/148 SpD Because of its typing and movepool, Scizor is naturally able to switch in and take on the Psychic- and Ghost-type threats of OU. This set capitalizes on this very aspect, and is designed specifically to allow Scizor to switch in and eliminate them from play easily. Although the Choice Band set does this job as well, using Life Orb instead means Scizor won't become setup bait for dangerous sweepers that would normally take advantage of it being locked into Pursuit. The heavy investment in special bulk, in combination with Roost, also makes Scizor surprisingly durable by allowing it to tank and recover from Psyshock, Psychic, Draco Meteor, Shadow Ball, and other coverage moves repeatedly. Keep in mind, however, that this set lacks the overall power and coverage of the Choice Band set, so use this set only if your team desperately need threats such as Alakazam, Latios, Latias, Espeon, and Gengar out of the way. Outside of its trapping role, Scizor still does its usual duties with Bullet Punch, a reasonably strong priority that picks off weakened threats, and U-turn, which helps maintain offensive momentum and compensate for Scizor's lack of coverage. The EV spread is highly specialized; 112 EVs in Attack, along with an Adamant nature, allow Scizor to OHKO a fleeing Latios after Stealth Rock damage with Pursuit, and Gengar with Bullet Punch after Stealth Rock damage, Substitute, and two rounds of Leftovers. The rest of the EVs are put into HP and Special Defense, as most of the threats Scizor traps are usually specially oriented. You can also consider a much bulkier spread along with Leftovers to switch in more easily on the likes of Gengar and Latios; 248 HP / 28 Atk / 236 SpD avoids 2HKOs from Choice Specs Latios's Draco Meteor and Life Orb Gengar's Focus Blast most of the time. Life Orb is an essential item to this set; however, there are notable alternatives if the recoil from Life Orb is undesirable. Boosting items include Dark Gem, which boosts the power of Pursuit only, and Expert Belt, which boosts the power of super effective hits. Occa Berry is also viable, as it saves Scizor from otherwise fatal KOs from the reasonably common Hidden Power Fire. Be wary that these items further decrease Scizor's physical power, lowering its utility against threats outside of Pursuit targets. Other Options: Scizor can run a fully offensive Swords Dance set, using Swords Dance, Bullet Punch, Bug Bite, and Superpower, maxing Attack and Speed, but bear in mind that Superpower and Bug Bite are transfer-only moves. Once Flying Gem is released, Scizor can use Acrobatics very well; though it doesn't get the Techinican boost, it takes out a good number of the usual Water-type checks even without the Gem boost. Mega Evolution Scizor's Mega Evolution doesn't need much explanation. It's more of the same, but bulkier. It can run an offensive or defensive Swords Dance set, using the Mega Stone as its item. Bear in mind, however, that you're using up your Mega Evolution slot on an already powerful Pokemon, and the loss of Leftovers could spell death on the turn that you Mega Evolve. TeammatesPolitoed is an excellent teammate under some circumstances, mitigating its Water-type weakness with Drizzle as well as cutting through many opposing Steel-types with Hydro Pump or Surf. Tyranitar is also very useful to an offensive Scizor, able to easily defeat Fire-types, and Scizor appreciates the chip damage from Sand Stream while eliminating the Water-types that threaten Tyranitar. Tentacruel takes out Fire-types easily, and appreciates the removal of Psychic-types that Scizor can provide via Pursuit. Rotom-W is a great check to Fire-types, and can aid Scizor in a VoltTurn chain. Checks and CountersMagnezone. If Scizor doesn't have U-Turn, Shed Shell, or Superpower, it's in severe danger from Hidden Power Fire or could become setup bait to Charge Beam. Skarmory is another excellent choice against Magnezone, as it only loses about 50% HP from a +2 Bullet Punch on a fully offensive set and can then reply with Whirlwind to remove Scizor's boosts. Tentacruel can be a difficult opponent, especially in the rain, as it can easily tank all of Scizor's main attacks barring the very rare Acrobatics, and can take enough damage to usually get a burn off with Scald. In a sandstorm or clear weather, Infernape is a problem unless Scizor has Acrobatics. Heatran resists everything but Superpower and has powerful Fire-type moves. Offensive Water- and Fire-types in general are good checks or counters to Scizor.

DITTO NEWS: By Ptd2fan
[/b]Spoiler: click to toggle And here we have Ptd2fan speaking live from the Pandora Palace about today's weather news on Ditto:
ditto is failed mew?
Mew and Ditto both weigh 8.8 lbs. They have the same sprite color scheme, with the same shinies. They both can learn every move, though in Ditto's case for a certain period. They both learn Transform. Many Ditto can be found in Cinnabar Mansion where many experiments took place between Mew and Mewtwo.
Thank you Ptd2fan for the above article. What an interesting read!
PTD CORNER (With a GIVEAWAY included): BY MARC
[/center]PTD Corner Today's spotlight is one of my favourite pokemon of all time – Volcarona! Volcarona, a fire-bug type pokemon who seemingly has no contribution in a team with its not apparent special attack, speed, and limited move pool, is easily overlooked by choices like Heatran and Infernape. However, it has one of the most threatening stat moves: Quiver Dance. Quiver Dance raises the user’s Special Attack, Special Defence and Speed by one stage. Quiver Dance six times, and Volcarona becomes an unstoppable killing machine. Stat additions/Boosts are a rather effective strategy in PTD, since the stat boosts are kept for the entire level, even if you call your pokemon back. Added onto the great typing (Fire-Bug), it can easily kill opponents of all types. Here’s a Volcarona set to think about: Heat Wave (level up) Bug Buzz (level up) Roost (First Gym TM) Quiver Dance (level up) All of the moves chosen can be easily obtained through level up, and roost is one of the first TMs you get in the early game. Volcarona can easily live attacks, and the STAB from the Fire move Heat Wave and Bug move Bug Buzz provides it coverage, to easily kill enemy towers. If you’re looking to save some money on boosters and potions, Volcarona is your choice. Although Volcarona has a 4x weakness to Rock that you should note, due to the nature of the game mechanics of PTD, you don't really have to tank a Stone Edge or Rock Slide, and so, as a frail killer, Volcarona seems to be pretty useful in PTD. THIS WEEK’S SPECIAL: From now until the next episode of PNN, free Volcaronas will be provided upon request. At request, a number between 1 and 100 will be generated, if it matches the number you choose, you can win a Shiny one!
A special thanks to Marc for the above article and giveaway!
