No hacks mate. No trading either.

Because Sam introduced this...

(Yes. 2 dogs in the same level)

First he gave Shadow a chance in the wild. Then he made Legendary beasts as common as Regular pidgeys pidgeys.
I'm pretty sure one of his greatest source of income are SnD coins. Adding Dogs to the wild is just destroying his revenue.
I really don't know what to say.

In the time I hunted for them, not one shiny or shadow appeared. If anyone has any trouble catching them, feel free to take them off my back.

A final challenge though. Find all three dogs in the same spawn and take a screenshot of it.

I'm thinking the odds of any single pokemon being a dog are about 1 in 100 give or take. Just from running the long levels that are in the Ice Cave, i'd find about 3-4 per level. Yea I agree its complete rubbish. Because you can get them in any level, shiny and shadow dogs will soon become more common then everything else. I was hoping it'd be something like the shiny encounter rate and then winning the game would only double that rate which will still be really small.

Or if anything deserved having to search out secret areas, it'd be the dogs. Another missed opportunity

I estimated about 1/100, I grind a lot in Mt Mortar (Or closest areas of the Past-Present thing since you know, it's the exact same location of the pause button in game) and I'd get one once in 3 levels

Yea... Secret spot.

Plus, I already caught a Shiny Raikou... Guess how rare that lasted?

Yes as kroateon said.
Some people actually spend 10 snd to adopt pokemon. Personally i've adopted 3 Regular Dogs. Adding them at such a common rate is sad in such a view that it's inflating other prices

Honestly as an old school person you must be disappointed but also the view of 1 full inventory of Dogs must look sweet.

Oh well, you have to be playing hours to become kinda an ''great'' collector on PTD so i see why Sam has putted in PTD 2 the Legendary's catchable.

I still don't think he should have done this.
The point of the game is to spend time (and money) to collect things. Sam made the game so that legends were only obtainable by snd coins and not other means

It's redundant to add dogs in ptd2 when he's trying to sell snd coins/make his game profitable. The trainer pass thing was even worse but I won't get into that.

Anyway, I'm actually starting to feel that he's doing all of this to counter hackers in their own game. By reliving the rarity of most pokemon, hackers don't have an incentive to hack the game and so will play fair. But what he doesn't realize is that devaluing all the pokemon of the game means that people finish catching them all quickly - and they quit quickly too.

I dont have a problem with them being in the game. I'd assume Sam knows he gets revenue from people buying legendaries and so if he wants to forgo those sales thats up to him. Its just how common they are (plus of course my comments on lack of imagination that your probably all sick of me repeating). They can appear in EVERY wild battle. I even had a 1v1 wild battle on Route 29 that was a dog instead of the normal pokemon. It reminds me of a friend who said "how can you call them legendary any more when you have 50 different legendary species?" Its that same type of annoyance here. When a PTD1 Lapras is rarer then a legendary dog, thats a problem.

Yea... that's basically it. I was expecting a one dog level at the end of the game like the normal games, where you'd fight a dog and maybe win the dog if you beat it (like the birds in PTD1)

But looking at PTD2, Sam's repetitively made things common time after time. Like lapras being as common as pidgeys...

I've got more trouble trying to catch mews and mewtwos in PTD1 than dogs in PTD2.

Oh well. What's done has been done.

I was looking forward to play PTD 2 again, but not anymore i was already disappointed when Lapras was catchable.

Another fun fact about the dogs

Been grinding the Dark Cave and got annoyed at how little the Dunsparce were appearing, so I decided to record the stats. I dont think Dunsparce appear in Shuckle levels so they might be a bit off but you get the general idea. I wasnt picky between the level being Geodude, Zubat or Shuckle so it's not like I stuck to Shuckles to influence the stats.

Rounds Played: 110
Total Pokemon Encountered: 3300
Total Dogs Encountered: 87
Prob Pokemon will be a dog: 2.63%
Total Dunsparce Encountered: 23
Prob Pokemon will be a Dunsparce: 0.697%
Total Shiny and Shadow Pokemon Encountered: 7
Prob Pokemon will be Shiny or Shadow: 0.21%

I have both completed the World Tournament and have the Trainer Pass so these stats wont apply to everyone. And you've got to allow for From them though, it'd be reasonable to assume odds of encountering a dog are between 2.5% and 3.33% (probability of a dog appearing once in every 30 round level) once you've finished the game. You have a better chance of finding a shiny/shadow dog then a shiny/shadow Dunsparce?!?
