I've been brainstorming some ways to attempt to make our graphics community here at Pandora a little more active. If you have any ideas feel free to suggest and discuss them here, and I'm always open to PM's I've identified a few people that I may be wanting to aim some graphics threads towards; -People that already do and can make graphics -People that cannot yet, but want to learn to make graphics -People that simply want to appreciate the amazing works done by the other users To the people that already can make graphics, what would get you into posting more here? Interviews and tutorials with and by other graphics creators? Competitions and tournaments? A thread where you comment on what the person above made, and then post your own tag. This would have to involve proper critique and suggestions for improvement For you guys that want to learn: What would help give you that push into learning? Are there any programs other than gimp or photoshop that you would want to use? Your views on the above, and even other suggestions are greatly appreciated

I've recently heard about a program called pixlr. Apparently it has the capacities of photoshop and it'd be interesting to learn more about it ;D Anyway, just a "How I make my signatures" video from you would be interesting to view |

So like me just recording a video of me making tags, like an old tag or a new one? Voice commentary too? And what would be your ideas on a 'resource thread' which kind of lists the programmes a person can use and then links to several places they can learn about said programs? |

Sure. Sounds great and yea, I'm into knowing how you make your tags ;P Hmm... I think that if someone wanted to find only resources, they wouldn't find it hard to use google. I mean the internet is a big place. Instead, if we really do a resources thread, we should do personal tutorials. That way, instead of redirecting people to useful places, we can direct people over here! |

That'd be amazing. I'd be interest in both video tutorials AND resources. You could even use the pandora channel if you work with Poledoo and upload the content on there?

All of this. Videos, resouces, contests all sound amazing! And yeah definitely could throw them up on the PGN youtube channel as well, speaking of which if you want a project to maybe demonstrate with the PGN youtube has no real banner, just a photoshop pattern made purple lol Edited by Poledoo, Oct 25 2014, 11:55 PM.

Once you've finished a tutorial, it'd be a cool idea to maybe have a .zip of all the resources you used for download, so users could essentially follow it step by step with the same tools you had. Help them learn how to place c4d's and all that stuff? ^^ Just an idea

Very good idea. How about I start doing resource packs That have say, 5 tutorials (plus the resources used) And then I cut a few renders myself, maybe make a c4d or 2 What do you say? And I could post them on deviant art with a link here to download so more people will hopefully find the forums? |

Looking forward to that man. If you could convert all of them to .png (maybe even layers) since not everyone uses Photoshop. This means that even if you don't use photoshop, you can try out the stuff. Anyway see if you can get videos for us all to enjoy. If you need help with anything tell me ;D would be glad to help |

Convert layers to png? I can sometimes use over a hundred layers so that would be a little bit too much work |

Hmm I see. I'm pretty sure there are plugins to convert them to .xcf or .pdn anyway, but it's rather hard to convert from photoshop as opposed to to photoshop |

There aren't really any alternatives to photoshop other than gimp really and gimp can open psd files. I'm not sure what the advantage to giving things in png would have at all |

pdn is actually slowly catching up. For simple projects I prefer using it since it is much simpler. And well pdn's best at playing with .png files. It's ok if you don't see the advantage. I mean I can easily do it myself |

Render and c4d's and stuff would be in png, but converting my tags doesn't really make sense because you would have to import each layer into paint.net individually? |

Awesome! With your tags, if you do a video, then it's basically solved. I find it rather hard to learn through understanding layers

Good because my layer system is difficult. I forget to name stuff and I often randomly change the order and do something and move it down like twenty layers. So when you're following my layers it's not a good representation of what I've done |
