So, I was looking around the forum, and noticed it's been half a year since anything was posted in the Roleplaying section, so I figured, ya know, why not try to revive it? So here's my best shot. PANDORIAN FANTASY I A roleplay So, recently, I started playing my favorite NES game again: Final Fantasy. As I was playing, I got more and more motivated to use that 60 dollar piece of software I bought on Steam a year ago, so, recently, I started using RPG Maker VXAce to - You guessed it! - make an RPG! And, as I spent countless hours fiddling with scripts and editing sprites, I thought: How am I ever going to make a story for this?! Then, as I was creating the first map of the game, it hit me - why not have people help me? So here I am, asking all of you here on this forum to help me create the story to this game. You see, I want this to basically be a story where everyone takes turns writing. It would work similar to The Legend Of Mewgia RP that was on the old forum, where I create a character, writing a bit about what happens with him, then someone else makes a character, write about what happens to them, and then we take turns posting about our characters, having them meet, and interact, and eventually we get a fantastic story written by a bunch of people - and I want to turn make that story the story of the RPG I am attempting to make. So, Alons-ey, mi amigos! A very brief example: Spoiler: click to toggle I'll start: Clyde walked into the woods, looking for a good spot to camp before the sun set. "Hmm..." He muttered to himself, walking into a clearing. "This'll work." He sat his backpack down, started a fire, and laid on the damp forest ground, the sounds of the forest lulling him to sleep as the color of the sky changed from blue, to orange, to black... |

At that moment when he was getting a bit sleepy he heard a noise coming from the woods. |

What could it be? Clyde thought, quickly closing his eyes so it appeared like he was asleep. "Finally found the twerp," He heard, followed by a bark, rustling leaves, and a scream. "Yargh! Dang dog!" He then heard twigs snapping, and after a few minutes decided it was safe to open his eyes. When he did, he was delighted with what he saw - a gray wolf, sitting beside him. "Hey, little guy," he said, rubbing the dogs ears. "I think I'll call you Scout." |

The wolf growled in content - as if he had already been acquainted and familiar with the name. Clyde rubbed his face against the coarse coat of the wolf - to him, it was the smoothest blanket in the entire world. With this thought in mind, he slowly fell into dreamless, satisfied sleep. |

"Have you eliminated the child?" "No. His beast was with him." "How? I thought we had captured that god forsaken wolf." "So did I. It doesn't matter. I'll try again soon... and this time I won't fail." - - - - - Clyde awoke to the sound of growling. "W-what's going on?" He asked, rubbing his eyes as he sat up. "What's wrong, Scout?" In reply, the canine barked, alerting Clyde to the rustling in the bushes outside of the cave he had been living in for the past year. Clyde grabbed the sword given to him by his grandfather, and silenced Scout. The dog had never failed to alert him of danger, and had even found him this cave a year ago, so Clyde had no doubt that the rustling wasn't just a rabbit or chipmunk. "Who's there?" He asked, walking towards the exit of the cave, holding his sword up. |

But the plain was barren and silent... as if someone had forgotten to turn on the power. "Woooooh", Scout yowled again, agitated, menacing as ever. --------------------- The trap had been laid. A keen eye would have seen a solitary silhouette shift in a distance, then suddenly dissipate... but otherwise, there were no signs of life around. Perhaps, the shadow too, was a mirage. With an evil glint in his eye, the man trudged away. He knew that, this time, his plan would not fail... |

"What is it, Scout?" Clyde asked, lowering his sword to pet the enraged wolf. Scout screamed a terrible howl, and lunged at Clyde. "What are you doing?!" Clyde screamed, right before an arrow whizzed where his body was before, hitting Scout in shoulder. "Scout!" Clyde screamed, standing up, searching for where the arrow came from. He noticed a shadow in the distance, a glare bouncing off where one would normally hold a crossbow. "Scout, with me!" He shouted, running in a zig-zag pattern away from his would be assasin. "It's too late, boy!" He heard behind him. Not stopping, Clyde turned around, and saw a tall man in a black cloak. "It's over." "Not if I have anything to say about it!" Clyde replied, unsheathing his sword and pulling the arrow out of Scout's shoulder. "Scout, lunge!" |

The man disappeared. Scout landed, momentarily confused. The man was no where in sight. Suddenly, the sky came crashing down. Or maybe not. It was all a mirror image, he realized. The sky "falling down" was a loose cloth floating in the distance. The man he saw was simply a refraction of light. But, almost as soon as the question dawned onto him, he realized a black cloak in the distance. It was over there, and there, and there too. There were dozens of images... of the same man |

Maria's eyes opened, fear filling her body as the joy of sleep left her. Gasping, she sat up, confused by her dream. Why was there a man in a black cloak? And who was that strange boy with the brown hair? She thought, sitting up. Gathering her clothes, she quickly got dressed. "Goodbye, Mother," she quickly told her mother, kissing her on the cheek as she ran out the door. "Good luck today!" she heard as the door closed. "Thanks!" She yelled at the closed door, drawing her sword as she walked into the woods surrounding her house. [Out of character time! So, Marc, I was wondering, do you want to split so you have control of Clyde and me of Maria or vis versa? You could make a character if you'd like, but if possible I would like us to each control a different character. Unless you don't want to. I don't really care.] |

[OCC: Sure, it's a little hard controlling the story since we both have different ideas. So I guess I'll control Clyde and you do Maria? Or I could control Maria haha] "Say your final pleas... for the final chapter of your story will start now!" Uh oh, Clyde thought, The mirrors didn't only provide visual shelter... but auditory camouflage For his voice echoed in the enclosed space. Scout growled. Clyde had momentarily forgotten about him. "Good boy... good boy." Clyde tried to hide his fear. ------------------ The man smiled. He would render victorious... he just knew it. "Calling G... Calling G...", the static walkie-talkie sounded. "Gunter. Over." If the man was annoyed by the sudden interruption, he didn't show it. "Abort operation. Abort operation." There was a strange sort of anxiety in his voice. "What? I'm at him. What?" "The window has opened. Another one of Them knows. Abort. Here me? Abort!" |

[OCC: Yeah, sounds good.] "Hiyah!" Maria screamed, lunging at the ocelot that was pestering her. Her sword hit it's mark, cutting the ocelots should enough to where it would be painful, yet not fatal. Cringing in pain, the ocelot ran off, presumably deciding that Maria was not the easy snack it though she was. "Stupid cats," Maria muttered as she continued her trek through the forest. "They never learn." Up ahead Maria saw her destination: A small, waterfall that was about 7 feet high and 3 feet wide. There was a river leading to it, and it emptied into a small basin where fish were plentiful. All she had to do was catch two or three and her family would be good for a few days, so she set to work. |

Clyde knew that he escaped death... just. He had been lucky this time. As if knowing how close to the doors of Heaven they were, Scout rubbed his snout against Clyde's leg. "We're vulnerable, Scout. We'd better find a better place, regroup, and see if there are any survivors." But Clyde knew there weren't. The dreams had stopped coming. No, that wasn't right. The dreams were still there, but he was always by himself. Nathan, the confident, self-appointed leader had been the last to die. Now it was himself, and him only. So why did he feel like he was being watched every time he was in the rotted castle? |

"You need to find him." Maria jumped, dropping her fishing pole into the water. She quickly turned around, and searched for whoever was talking. "Find him." "Who are you?!" She demanded, drawing her sword and rapidly turning around in circles. There! She thought, noticing a glimmer of white running through the trees. "He's the only one left in the dreams." "W-What? How do you know about the dreams!?" She asked. The glimmer stopped, and turned towards her. Fear ran through her body as the white cloaked man spoke. "Find him." "Why?!" She asked. "I don-" She stopped as the man took off his hood. "H-how?!" She stammered. "Y-you're dead!" "Time's running out." Her dead father said as a blinding light covered his body. "Good luck." When the light faded he was gone. |

The jungle of trees was damp, sticky and unforgiving. The leaves pricked against his weakened limbs, the trees slashed against his hopeless shoulders. The sounds, though abundant, didn't give a hint of solace. Clyde shuddered at the thought of its possible origin. He didn't know where he was. He didn't know if his cause was worth fighting for anymore. Tired, desperate, he sat down, and quickly fell asleep. -------------------- He was there again. In the ancient ruins of the abandoned castle. He walked around. The sword had gone. Maybe it hadn't been there. But Clyde knew, it had always been there. The glass cabinet containing the sword was open, and the sword was gone. ---------------------------------------- Clyde wandered around, until he came to the alter. The alter always freaked him out. But today, it was strangely welcoming. The temperature dropped. Clyde felt as if he was suffocating. It was his first sense of danger in this forbidden dreamland. It was his first feel of pain. "The window has been opened. The message has been passed." An echoey voice sounded out ------------------------------------------ Clyde felt like he was falling... falling... falling... into a deep abyss |

"Nothing important," Maria answered her mother when she was asked if anything happened today. "I dropped my fishing rod, but I got it back without much trouble. She could tell her mother about her father, but who knows how she would react then? Her mother nearly had a panic attack if she got so much as a scratch from the wildlife... how could she possibly tell her that her husband might not be dead? She wouldn't. Not until she found him. "That's good, sweety." Her mother replied, frying one of the many fish Maria had caught that day. "Why'd you catch so many of these things?" "I fished as much as I usually do. The fish just seemed to love biting today." And I'm leaving tonight, she silently though to herself. I'm running as far away from here as I need to. I will find him. "Well, while you're cooking that I'm going to go get some firewood," Maria declared, grabbing an apple from the table and getting up. "Okay," Her mother said, turning around. "Don't dawdle, this fish is going to taste good!" Running out the door, Maria managed to say "Okay Mother!" before the pain of leaving her Mom got to her. It's fine, she though. I caught her a bunch of fish, and I know where to look. I just need to find whoever the boy in my dreams is. |
