Back in the days of yore, the Pandora empire was a thriving community bustling with activity with thousands of posters active everyday. There were artists competing in contests all across the art forums and people inventing stories to post here for critisism. We had people putting up contests to win PTD pokemon as prizes and selling art work for forum cash. Oh it was good times. It was enjoyable to come online and see what kinds of happenings were going on. However all good things must come to an end. But this forum isn't ending now I'm just going to address the elephant in the room and say that the forum is on a path to destruction. We've been living off a few posts a day lately and there are some things we can and need to do to be able to increase activity in the forums. (These are just ideas) *The forum was most popular when we were the official PTD forum. but then for some reason Sam decided for us to no longer be his official forum. My idea is that we need to find another up and coming flash game which could have a solid community and playerbase (prefferably pokemon) and see if they want an official forum. They put up links in their games and then we get tons of members flowing through. The problem with thos is that it'd be hard finding a game like this. It's worth a try though. *No one likes the look of a dying forum. We could have a massive forum clean up day where we remove old topics from sight and change the events list and such to give our forum a newer look so that when people do join it looks like a growing forum instead of a dying one. *See if we can get Sam to officialise us again. I can think of more ideas over the next few days but I want to see your ideas too. Because at this rate if we don't do anything soon then the forum might not be a place for us all to chat in a community anymore, and we don't want that since this is the best online community I've ever found, and I've been here for 3 years now and I'm not saying goodbye anytime soon. We need to try everything. No idea is worse than a bad idea!!! |

that is true and to advertise elsewhere when we have cleared and sorted the forum out, as you can guess me and graphicforce who were once so active have very limited time due to leo at the moment but that does not mean we have given up and forgotten about pandora, i always check in at least once every 2 days during the evening to see how things are doing

Here is still the "official" forum on Sam's FAQ page but that hasn't been updated in ages, he never directs anyone here through his twitter and he's often promoting other fan-made pages such as facebook groups and youtube accounts. The problem though is he just promotes them but doesnt really comment on there already being a facebook account or other community groups so people make new ones without knowing some (like here) already exist. That just serves to fracture an already decreasing community of people |

I just dont think he keeps track of things like what he promotes. Like his updates, a lot of released moves or pokemon he doesnt keep track of until someone points out a bug to him |

We're still the official forum, apparently. Just that he isn't doing much to make us look official. As I've suggested before (can't remember if this was in the staff forums or Pandora HQ) we should switch to competitive pokemon. I know we wont overtake smogon and stuff but as a mini community with experienced (hopefully) battlers, we might be able to attract the large population of competitive players and have active discussions about pokemon and strategies. To be honest, judging by the number of players in PTD Trainer VS (if it really is legitimate) I don't think there's a shortage of PTD players. I mean I can easily find an opponent (different every time) at all hours of the day. The only thing we need is, publicity |

Well we are still supposed to be the official forums but there is not much being done to promote the forums. If we actually recieve proper promotion from Sam, either on twitter or his blog, the forum will be quickly rejuvenate. The forum itself can easily gain many new members as at any given moment of time, there are atleast 100 guests online. If we can get even 40% of them to join, the activity of the forums will gain huge boost. |

Hey Purpl3 or Gforce do you guys reckon you'd be able to talk to Sam? He'd listen to either of you two. In the meantime I'll check out Kongregate I found a pretty prommising looking game dev and have sent them a message basically asking if they're interested but nothing is set in stone yet. Ultimately it will be Starf, Purpl3 and Gforces decision but something still needs to be done to increase activity and I think finding a new game dev to advertise us in their games is the way to go Edited by Super neoN, Apr 9 2015, 08:54 AM.

Thanks neoN! I also wanted to make a thread somewhere around the same lines. However, my suggestion is a little differrent. I was thinking that maybe we could try to become a good forum for the online multiplayer games like HearthStone or League of Legends. This is what comes to my mind. If people are moving on, the theme/ focus of our forum must advance and move on too. ![]() Change the game is what I was thinking. (double meaning implied) But, it all finally depends on what Gforce would like to do with his forum, of course. Edited by Master Snowy, Apr 9 2015, 02:15 PM.

Actually, PTD is a bad idea at the moment. I have conveniently forgotten that Sam decided to delete a LOAD of old accounts (a.k.a. The Purge) as his servers were getting too laggy. If we open up the forums, all that would happen is a lot of people would complain about how much time Sam is spending deleting the accounts. Recently, I've been playing a lot more fan-based pokemon games such as Pokemon Insurgence. I will speak to the developer to see if he can use Pandora as the official forums - I know they currently use reddit but all the topics, be it problems, trade or bugs are posted in the same area. Maybe they would be interested in using PGN as an organized platform for feedback and trading? Of course, this is only if you guys are interested. Neon, do tell us how that conversation goes. Snowy, I think that's a good idea. Personally I don't play either but I'd be willing to spend some time looking into those games if the majority like playing it. I'm also thinking, we should revive PNN. Even if people don't come on for conversations, if we establish a large pokemon-based news network, it might gain attention and encourage pokemon fans to join. |

@Marc: Good idea on the PNN and stuff. We'll see what we can do about it. I just completed my college studies and real life has kicked in. So, I may not have that much time at all with jobs and housework and all. So, we may need more members to join in for the idea and stuff. So, let's see how things go for it, I suppose. ![]() However, if you want to start/ make it on your own or with a group or anything, you can feel free to do it any time and as you wish, I suppose. : p Edited by Master Snowy, Apr 10 2015, 01:26 PM.

I agree with Snowy and Marc. Instead of trying to be PTD-centric, we should try to explore other options. The trend currently is against PTD. This purge is going to affect old/former PTD players badly. Even if we get reinstated as official PTD forums, we will firstly have to deal with all those players who would be complaining about their deleted accounts. Also majority of the currently active and semi-active members have lost interest in PTD. Reviving PNN is also a good idea but I believe that it would be better if it was to be revived once the forum is having a good deal of activity. As for me personally, PTD has lost all its charm. Also my board exams have ended recently and I have about full two months of free time. I can assist with any of the time-consuming work in reviving the forums |

I like the idea of having other start-up games like Super Neon said. I also have no issue with having other well established games like LoL here. But well established games have well established communities so my question is, what will our draw-card be to separate us from the pack? At least with small start-ups we can just claim to be the official meeting place. I'm not trying to discourage going for a larger, established game, just pointing out what I think will be a larger hurdle in getting there and maybe asking for ideas. |

Alright so the two main options here are: We can become the unofficial forum of an already developed game with a huge fanbase, but we would need to compete for popularity Or: We can become the official forum of an up and coming game / game dev. However we run the risk of their games failing to attract attention Edited by Super neoN, Apr 10 2015, 11:12 PM.

Hi. So I checked back here a few days ago and saw the same forums...from six months ago. This is supposed to be a gaming forum right? Where's all the gaming forums? Might as well rename the place a Pokémon forum if anything, because that's all that there is. It's just an idea, but maybe making the place look more like an actual gaming forum would work. Oh and another thing, the forum isn't inactive. You have multiple hundreds of Guests visiting every day. The real question is, "How do we get them to join?" not "Let's make the place more active." It's a matter of creating an appeal for them to join and make it worthwhile for them, not just about recycling current members. New members have a big contribution. |

I've done some experimenting over the years. Apparently making the place a gaming community just isn't very easy to comment on apparently. I've made a couple of trivia, comments on the gaming community, and reviews even going as far as making a daily nuzlocke but non of the mentioned ever got very popular or inspired anyone to make something similar. (Appreciate the other nuzlockes though. I couldn't comment for a while due to a broken computer) Admittingly, it's quite frustrating but I'm willing to continue trying. I think simply making this a pokemon forum is really degrading it yet it's all we really have time to talk about. Now there are a bunch of guests and members, but there just doesn't seem to be much of a motive to really comment. My excuses for not commenting is either because I'm in a bad mood or it's something from the PTD forum, which I never play nowadays. Heck, I'm not even sure what Sam's got to do with this forum now. Seeing how this is supposed to be the official forums for a popular flash game, I expected a larger community. Not saying that we've been doing a terrible job throughout these years though. |

I understand that it's hard to convert to a full gaming forum, but otherwise the name of the place doesn't fit in. It's just Pokémon gaming. I can see the appeal of wanting Sam to advertise more, but to me, it seems like the game has gone to numemon. Just saying. I understand it'll definitely boost activity, but when the majority of the people that are still around don't play, it's just a section that rots or is left for new members to make active. That's just my opinion tho, but it's totally up to the admins. The point I'm ultimately trying to get across is the forums are too bland and the topics made are moderately sustainable from sight. It seems like it's not long-lasting content to make people want to join and/or stay. It's just me, but every time the forum hit a dead spot, changing it up a little seemed to benefit. It's just me tho. |
