Do you believe that having a team full of hard hitting pokémon is better than adding "walls" like Jellicent etc? What's your opinion on this?

Power > Strategy or Strategy > Power?

In my opinion, "walls" like Jellicent just slow the opponent down instead of actually defeating them

If you grab a wall you need to have a setup pokemon first to drop stealth rock and spikes, otherwise a power team will steamroll you.

No srsly why can't you have a strategic offense? Or maybe we are using the wrong words, I'd say it should be offense vs defense.

its just a simple sword vs shield question. one really isnt that much better than the other.

but ofcourse you need strategy for anything. the question is more along the lines of a team of sweepers vs a team of stalls/walls

Spread you wings and take flight.
I go with a mix, some walls and some attackers.

Well who said walls can attack? A toxic stall wall or SubSeed wall can sweep. My Hippowdon has taught me that multiple times.

Both, I have 2 walls and 4 attackers
Easy win

But otherwise I would say Power

hmmm.....I think Strategy>Power.Power IS important, though a team based on pure brutality is very disadvantaged to a strategic team, for example if you put a brutal blaziken against a wall jellycent, what do you get?An epic fail.If you have good strategy, even a team of Ubers will be nothing compared to you.Well, that's just my way of thinking...

Bad example, but I see your point
It kinda depends, in competitive battles definitely strategy but in the Pokemon game (storyline) itself power :)

Gen 1-3 = Power > Strategy. Since most pokemon had really bad movesets and the best was to just give them a variety of attacks and make them SUPER STRONG which is really easy to do.

But Gen 4-5 = Strategy > Power. Now, making strategies is much easier and better to do.

It all depends on the tier. In Wifi OU Hyper Offense (Full on offense) is pretty bad unless you're using weather because of all the weather abusers. Balanced offense is usually better in that tier.

Defensive/Stall is better in a tier like UU and LU.

Little cup is practically SUPER HYPER OFFENSE.

Also @Budget, each gen is getting more powerful then the next. 2nd gen was practically full on stally matches, 70+ turn matches aren't that uncommon. 3rd gen was pretty balanced, 4th gen too. 1st gen I haven't played yet (PO hasen't released 1st gen on their server yet) so I can't really say anything about that, all I know is it's less stally then 2nd gen.

I prefer to have fast, powerful Pokemon that faint the enemy before they can really even get a punch in. For me and my Typhlosion, it's best to have as much health as possible, however when he has full health, he usually defeats foe Pokemon immediately with his Eruption anyways. However, I'm only talking about in-game, I can't connect my fourth gen games to the internet to battle competitively. : P I don't know about that stuff.

I prefer walls that have enough power to defeat checks on my sweepers, then spam boosting and sweeping moves as much as possible. Stealth rock+Dragon tail or Stealth rock + Roar is one of my favorites, combined with wish users, and Jellicent to sweep their rapid spinner, used as a sweeper rather than a wall. Jellicent, with water spout and choice specs in the rain kills practically anything except walls that resist it in a max of 3 hits, usually less.

@ nordic: brutal blaziken is banned (at least the one with speed boost, which is the best one)
