Note: This topic will be a big big spoiler to the movie the Man of Steel so read if you've watched the movie. ... what do you expect me to say here? ![]() This movie is really underrated at the moment. With a rating of 58% I didn't expect this movie to interest me considering how it has a better review than Superman Returns. But man watching this movie today... I cannot believe what I saw. Lightspeed action, amazing acting, good tone, the struggles of Clark's existence, and Hans Zimmer music. The review that this movie got was just outrageous in my terms. It's not the best movie in the world but it sure as hell did not deserve a measly 58%. The movie still has my hands trembling from all the excitement. Here's my list of Pros and Cons Pros - They put good focus into Superman's being in the first half of the film with him struggling to fit into society. We have seen this MANY times but the way it was put into this movie felt really in place and not like how the Astro Boy movie took it. - Everyone acts naturally despite the circumstances of a superman movie. - The amazing action scenes. (Lightspeed GO!) the Man of Steel fights way better than a angry green monster, a Candian with a shield, a god, and a man of iron combined - Amazing designs on the ships and stuff - Out of this world special effects that remind you of the movie Avatar - The music is memorable considering that it was done by Hans Zimmer - No kryptonite BS besides gravity rules - And finally breaking every law of physics ever - Lex Corp hidden in the movie EVERYHWERE - They took off that underwear that Superman had over his pants. In fact they don't even call him Superman in this movie most of the time. but the bad stuff... can get pretty bad Cons - The terms general zod, world machine, krypton, and Phantom Zone really don't fit with this movie although General Zod was awesome. - Not enough development with other people. Seriously I can't even figure out Lois in this movie. - Instead of developing Superman with his childhood we only really see a bunch of non chronlogical flashbacks that just appear out of nowhere. They just want to get to the action... about that: - The overworked action scenes. It seemed like the movie just wanted to demonstrate how good their action scenes were. The prolouge is so expanded because of it and the second half of the movie is only action and pretty much nothing else. I like action in movies but there's just too much especially when the movie is 2 hours long. This is actually a big problem in many movies. - Zod's banishment to the Phantom Zone seems like more of a benefit considering the condition of the planet. Let the evil ones live and the good ones die. - Superman's fake dad.... omg he dies trying to save a dog... really? - Why does everyone kidnap Lois? There's no reason at all! (Also it's funny how Lois can survive Krypton's gravity when Superman can't) Edited by Aura, Jun 16 2013, 03:23 AM.

I didn't watch it yet, so I can't read your post. :p It was a Christopher Nolan movie, right? So it can't be that bad. |

Well yeah sort of. He was the producer. Zack Synder was the director.

I didn't want to watch that movie at all, especially because I was never interested in these super hero type movies until The Avengers got released, and then Thor was epic too and The Fantastic Four were a hit! But still, the previous Superman movie had not impressed me much. Now that I read what you have written, I am definitely watching this new movie! It wasn't much of a spoiler to me, but I went like, really? So, I'm really watching that movie this time though he is not my favourite super hero. It sounds like a really good movie. Especially with one of my favourite actresses in it too. That's a very good review, thanks Aura!

In most honesty I never liked Superman. He was always ridiculously overpowered (He can sneeze away a galaxy comeon!) and the only way to stop him always involved 2 things: Krytonite or send another overpowered baddy to fight him off Godzilla style. While this movie shared that recurring balance, I felt like this one showed that Superman was truly weak in the beginning with nothing but immense power and no fighting skill. The villians on the other hand were stronger than him and outnumbered him brutally. They even had my long awaited Superman theme that I had thought of years back: "Even with lightspeed you can't save everyone" |

I love Superman saga ( a part from that revolting "Superman returs" ) and, after your review, I'm definitely going to watch this new one. |
